Join us for a Day Of reflection on AFTER RESURRECTION…EMMAUS:THE EMMAUS ROAD, PARADIGM OF OUR JOURNEY WITH JESUS Facilitated by – THE REV. BONNIE THURSTON, Ph.D.
One of the post-Easter gospels is always Luke 24:13-35, the beloved account of Jesus meeting two strangers on a sad journey, joining them on the journey, and changing their sorrow into joy. The text is a paradigm of Christian spirituality. We will closely examine the text focusing on the themes of Walking, Word, and Eating (journey, scripture, eucharist). There will be silent time for prayer, and personal reflection and talking fellowship at lunch, and will close with Q &A.

The Rev. Bonnie Thurston, Ph.D. is a native of southern West Virginia, Bonnie Thurston lives “down the road from” her “dear neighbors” at Mt. St. Joseph. She earned a B.A. from Bethany College, M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Virginia. The subject of her dissertation was Thomas Merton. Bonnie taught at the university and seminary level for over 25 years, has written or edited 24 books on scripture or spirituality and 8 of poetry. She has served as co-pastor, pastor, or interim of five churches, in overseas ministry, and is an experienced spiritual director and retreat leader. Bonnie is an avid walker, reader, gardener, and cook, enjoys classical music, and loves the West Virginia hills.
Fees for programs or retreats may be mailed to the address below. Fees for retreats include: lodging, meals, and direction. A $50.00 deposit (non refundable) is requested when registering for any retreat. Your cancelled check will serve as your receipt. St. Joseph Retreat Center reserves the right to cancel a program if necessary. Programs may be cancelled if fewer then the required number of participants are enrolled, or in case of unavailability of the presenter. Refunds will be made if the program is cancelled, or payment may be applied toward another program
